Wild at Heart
Everyone says I purr,
but inside I want to roar,
like a lion in the Savannah,
or a coyote howling to his mates.
Everyone says I leap,
but inside I want to pounce,
like a cheetah hunting a gazelle,
or a jaguar leaping over a river.
Everyone says I play,
but inside I want to fight,
like a deer fighting a buck,
or a lioness fighting a lion.
Everyone says I am just a kitten,
but inside I want to be a wildcat,
an animal that can roar, pounce, and fight.
Everyone says I am wild,
like a roaring lion,
or a pouncing cheetah,
and finally everyone is right.

What inspired me to write this poem was the Blue Buffalo pet food commercial. I hope this poem will make bring out your inner wildside.
