The Dance Moved Me to Tears
In between the pounding of the rhythms
In the spaces of the swaying body
She stands stationery
No beat can budge her frozen limbs
No stares can provoke a reaction from her concrete form
No one can affect her unwavering solemn expression
No one even tries
She is nothing in this room
No one
The music increases its wild vibrations
Then, a soft piano
Words of the pain of loss
Nothing new there
For her heart of solid stone
But, oh
Something new
Words of freedom and happiness
After letting go of the pain
A single tear traces its way down
Her face of delicate marble
Now changed
Such lies
She runs
Her motions in a hurried grace
She catches the attention of many
She leaves
And no one comes after her

I wrote this after a school dance. People never seem to dissappoint in how little they can do to heal a broken soul. They tend to just shatter it more.
