...But I Just Can't
Orion was child, just like you.
He went to school and had friends, just like you.
But he was always jealous. Jealous of all the things his friends could do.
They could sing, they could draw, they could dance, and they could play instruments.
...But Orion just couldn’t.
One day, Orion’s friends approached him.
They asked, “Orion, can you sing for us? Everyone else is doing it.”
Orion became sad. He said, “I’d love to… But I just can’t.”
“Surely you can!” Orion’s friends said, “Anybody can sing!”
So Orion sang, and he sang the most beautiful song anyone had ever heard.
Orion felt so much better. He COULD sing! He just needed to believe he could.
The next day, Orion’s friends approached him.
They asked, “Orion, can you draw for us? Everyone else is doing it.”
Orion became sad. He said, “I’d love to… But I just can’t.”
“Surely you can!” Orion’s friends said, “Anybody can draw!”
So Orion drew, and he drew the most beautiful picture anyone had ever seen.
Orion felt so much better. He COULD draw! He just needed to believe he could.
The next day, Orion’s friends approached him.
They asked, “Orion, can you dance for us? Everyone else is doing it.”
Orion became sad. He said, “I’d love to… But I just can’t.”
“Surely you can!” Orion’s friends said, “Anybody can dance!”
So Orion danced, and he danced the most beautiful dance anyone had ever seen.
Orion felt so much better. He COULD dance! He just needed to believe he could.
The next day, Orion’s friends approached him.
“Orion! We need someone to play guitar in our band in the talent show. Can you do it for us?”
Orion became sad. He said, “I’d love to… But I just can’t.”
“Surely you can!” Orion’s friends said, “We need you, and we know you can!”
So Orion picked up the guitar, and played the most beautiful song anyone had ever heard.
Orion felt so much better. He COULD play guitar! He just needed to believe he could.
From there on out Orion believed in himself.
And he could do anything he wanted to do.
But anything he did, he did with his friends.
Because they were the ones who believed in him first.
