A Promise to be Friends Forever
We were inseparable in 4th grade.
I went over to your house and you came over to mine.
We would ride our bikes to the park and talk endlessly about everything.
In 5th grade we made new friends, turned our backs on each other, and ended our friendship.
All of us made up songs and played spoons every chance we got.
We made three of our birthday parties hilarious and memorable for the rest of our lives.
In 6th grade our group split up and I found myself talking to y’all less.
I met a new group that always kept the conversation going and made me smile everyday.
I found my new best friends and it made the rest of middle school a breeze.
We all hung out because there would be no way that we would end.
Then in our last year together I found myself with only two really close friends.
As unfortunate as it may seem, everyone I promised to be friends forever, ended.
I didn’t mean to break them but some promises need to be broken.
