to suggests time has past, is to acknowledge what has happened.

as we ate breakfast together.
your laughter, i can hear it,
belting to the world without a care.
it was yesterday when you cooked,
this morning when you went to work,
and today when you kissed me goodnight.
but it wasnt,
it's been years since you've read me bed time stories,
it's been months since you've tucked me in,
and weeks since i've seen your face.
but it has'nt,
it couldent be,
because to acknowledge that time has past,
