ABC, 123
Young, Reckless, Wild, and Free!
Still trying to count 123, ABC,
The stage of the world was through we and we could be anyone, anything
From superheroes like captain underpants, Ben 10, spy kids, power rangers,
Or villains from the Grinch, the big bad wolf, Mr.Scrooge, captain hook,
We could have had any adventure
From the very hungry caterpillar, the giving tree, where the wild things are
Instead we become the diary of a wimpy kid,
The world was our Lego set ready to build anything we see fit
You could say that back in the day it was LIT, we were LIT
Because we were personification architects
Disguising trees, rocks, snow, and flowers
To speak to us in ABC, 123, 123 ABC,
…Young. Reckless. Wild. and Free,
We were Waldo waiting to be discovered like a distinct planet
Playing tag, tag you’re it!
Running frantically to nowhere, only toward a garden of simplicity,
S-l-o-w m-o-t-i-o-n, fast forward actions, forget about science!
We are science!
Before Bill Nye the science guy came on our television screen
We were scientist!
Adults spoken to us in dictionary tone, and words were our treasures,
Or jewelry, or new shoes to show off,
Time was was so simple, how adults have changed time, how men
and women changed time!
Trees tarnished, rocks crumble, Snow melted, flowers broken,
Words were no longer something we worshiped
and don't get me wrong
The world is still a stage, but for all the wrong reason
Our world has gotten smaller, "what is this, what is that"
They said curiosity killed the cat in the hat
Knowledge stabbed us in the back
Our movements have become restricted as if we are puppets
Stringed by our own conscious,
Like a room filled with orchestras telling you
"Ring around the Rosie,
a pocket full of poise
ashes, ashes
we
all
fall
down",
Our former self was buried in a grave
Even the tombstones around us were giving us flowers,
No this can’t be! ABC, 123, 773-Past-Me
E.T phone home, E.T phone home, E.T phone home!
How have we become so
Alone.
