Martyr, Unsung
Ride gallantly into the flames,
Only to be burnt into an amorphous pile of ashes.
No time to mull, no time to feel,
A poignant end for a brave fighter.
Questions barraging into your soul,
Searching for impossible answers,
Belaboring over concealed issues,
As the soul is whittled away.
No one left to invigilate,
No one left to debase.
Only the self, sad, lonely, bereft
Crumpled in a bedraggled world.
