Where am I From?
Where am I from?
Living my life by “Without struggle there’s no progress,” and “Learn from yesterday to make yourself better today,”
inked in my left shoulder and right bicep one day,
Blocking out those despising permanent body ink.
Where am I from?
The Hartland community in the Milwaukee suburbs.
A high school recognized as a sports powerhouse and academics.
Making memories.
Where am I from?
My coach calling me “Shady.”
The haters and doubters speaking a foreign language,
The supportive roar of 4,000 people on fall Fridays.
Where am I from?
A two sport athlete at “The U,”
A two time state champion and two time runner up.
A UW-Oshkosh football recruit.
Where am I from?
Cheesehead for life,
Florida Georgia Line fan,
Diehard Russell Wilson fan.
Where am I from?
Enduring failures to celebrate minimal successes,
Picking up the struggling along the way.
Dealing with the lifetime physical and mental scars of my sports and mistakes.
Who am I?
One that understands the sacrifices to achieve progress,
One that understands I don’t get yesterday back,
One that understands where I came from.
