Waiting For The Grass To Grow
Mortars boom like an applause
to a sickening starting act
boys turn to men
who turn to severed limbs
lying on the wilted grass
they are buried in the ground
before and after death
preying to an empty sky
that made them fear even looking up
and still I ask how such a waste
was so unavoidable
it makes me fear what will happen next
in this sickening game of life
