Wrigley Field
Standing in a big line,
waiting to enter the gate
Music playing, people laughing
The chant “Let’s go Cubs”
is heard all around
Old, Young, everyone
supporting the home team
I can feel the high energy
The gate slowly slides open,
kids running through with their tickets,
wanting to go down by the field.
Seeing the baseball diamond
for the first time,
all of the players warming up
Ernie Banks comes towards me,
as I hold out my ball.
Everyone pushing saying his name,
“Mr. Banks can you sign. Over here”
Ernie takes my ball and pen
my heart is pounding as he signs it
When I hear the National Anthem
it is a sign to make my way
back to my seat
On my way the smell of beer,
and the smell of popcorn
show that I am at a baseball game.
Everyone chanting, “Let’s go Cubbies
Its an atmosphere that I never want to leave
