The Writing on the Wall-An Ancient World Saying from the Book of Daniel
I did
it again.
Fury fills his face.
My boss speaks harshly,
“Can you see the writing on the wall?”
Imminent danger began to creep into view.
My mind catapults to the days of King Belshazzar.
“Mene, mene, tekel, upharsin,” the wall screamed to him.
“Numbered, numbered, weighed, divided,” Daniel translated.
His separated kingdom, judged by God, with his days numbered.
Daniel urgently explained imminent danger began to creep into view.
Oblivious to his sins, Belshazzar thought nothing of the writing on the wall.
He continued indulging in a drunken revelry and debased sacred temple vessels.
Sin after sin, God became enraged with the decisions of the great King Belshazzar.
A few days later, arrow-shaped knives slaughtered King Belshazzar of the Babylonians.
Imminent danger began to creep into view.
Unfortunately, stupidity took over my senses.
I did it again, despite the consequences.
King Belshazzar’s story gave me perspective.
I learned to pay attention to signs when
imminent danger begins to creep into view.
“What’s wrong?” My boss looked concerned.
I trembled thinking about death looming.
My eyes blurred and my stomach hurt.
I ran out of the room sobbing because
Imminent danger began to creep into view.
