Divorce
The lowest day of my life was one
I thought would never transpire.
Sitting, reading, spending time with my siblings
when my parents told us to turn the TV off
close your books.
Forlorn faces stared at forlorn faces
the silence so deadly
it could kill,
that’s how it would seem.
They sat down,
tears in their eyes,
their telling tore my heart out.
I couldn’t believe they would do this to us.
All my life we have been a family
together.
They never opposed each other,
so I didn’t understand why
things would never be the same again.
