The Dog
I pull on your tail, tug on your ears, and annoy you to no end.
You overlooked the bad, and loved me despite the annoyance.
I babied you from the start, with endless treats that you love.
You will never forget that love and will always return it to me.
I became frightened when that creepy man came to the door.
You protected me with your roaring bark until they ran away.
I was heartbroken when my boyfriend left, then I became mad.
You mocked with your sad eyes and the stood up hair on your back.
I had a dreadful day and really didn’t want to clean the dishes.
You swept in and cleaned my dishes for me, the ultimate sacrifice.
