Details of Life
She said “vivid detail”
And I thought about a dead
tree on a yellow hill
reaching to a blue sky
I saw children running and
screaming, and parents
chuckling softly and
calling out warnings
I heard the progression of life.
I do not want to be okay
it is not death I fear but
losing my mind
creatively
dreaming
despair
