Imagination
As little kids it’s what we use
To escape reality every day
It’s where we think of the greatest adventures
Where nothing is impossible
As teenagers
we like to think we’ve grown up
that our imagination is useless
At least
that’s what we’ve been taught
you need to think about the future
you won’t get a real job with that skill
you need to do something else
you won’t going very far in life with those grade
Somewhere we get lost
In straight A’s and GPAs
In perfect attendance
And imagination gets pushed back
Into our subconscious
Never gone
Mostly forgotten
We forget what it’s like to
To play in the fallen leaves
To pick up every bug we can get our hands on
To adventure in the woods
To make a whole new place out of something we see everyday
To be free
No stress
No worries
Just be free
So go build the bridge to Terabithia
Go climb through the wardrobe to Narnia
Go fight the dragon
Go rescue the princess
Go save the world
Don’t let reality ruin what matters most to you
