The Book of Venus
While the cats roam the streets
You’re eating the porridge
Poured from the faucet
That’s hidden from sight
You said it before
And you’ll say it again
But we’ll follow the rules
Each day and each night
I sit on a pillow
As you stare out the window
Our toes hit the drums
And we shiver in fright
I yell and I scream
And you start to cry
So I go buy some ice cream
And pull you in tight
I sit on the saddle
And crush the green grass
While you hold the string
Thats flying our kite
The music is blaring
And I’m hurting my lungs
But why would I care
When it’s a hilarious sight?
The fields are dry
From the lack of hydration
But we dance and we sing
And I know it’s alright
The dishes were clean
But they’re not anymore
So you reluctantly do them
Because you’re polite
If only the pie
Had been taken out sooner
We wouldn’t be here
Eating in the moonlight
To think we all know
And to think we all care
Is a great misconception
Because really, who’s right?
