One Year Ago
Every year I remember.
And every year I mark the date.
But this year I forgot until it was a day past when it happened two years ago.
And this year I forgot to be silent when I remembered,
Because I forgot to remember when it happened two years ago.
But I put it in my calendar for next year,
So that next year, when it is three years ago to the day,
My phone will make a noise and remind me to be quiet,
Because then one year ago on that day,
It will be the anniversary of that time I forgot, that two years ago on that day,
My teacher took his own life.
