A certain light
Sneak up on me when I turn off the lights
In my bed where you and I
Soon are about to wrestle
You always win or leave me scarred and beaten
But I don’t care
It’s been like that forever
I have known none else
But sometimes when you loosen your grip
So that my buried face can look towards the window
A light from a brighter moon
Dances through the glass and into my eyes
And plants within me the most rare and delightful feeling
That some day banks of roses
Will grow from my dry and starving soil
So I can learn to love again
And let the world become my kingdom
