Soon Enough
At first,
Her friends are supportive.
They ask and ask and ask.
And she tells them that one line
That seems to be on repeat in her mind
“I’m fine.”
At first,
Her classes are good.
She seems to be doing okay.
She knows thinks she’s doing okay.
And she tells herself that one lie
That seems to be on repeat in her mind
“I’m fine.”
But soon enough,
Her friends aren’t around anymore.
She pushed them away.
Soon enough,
Her grades start to decline.
She doesn’t pay attention anymore.
Soon enough,
The seemingly perfect girl
Have tearstains on her sleeves
And scars on her soul.
Soon enough
The things that used to make it all worth it
Don’t.
Soon enough,
The girl who used to be strong
Is crumbling behind
A broken mask.
At first, she thought she was fine.
But soon enough,
She finds out that she
Never really was.
