White Lightning
Soft rumbles whisper in the distance
As the hair on her body anxiously stands on its toes.
Humidity wraps its avaricious arms around her,
Effortlessly trapping her in a deceitful grasp.
Tempting lightning shrieks, insidious thunder bellows,
But deafening addiction courses through her.
Hungry rain caresses her skin and tangles into her hair,
But as the ruinous storm abruptly dissipates,
She’s left choking on dry air.
Deadly devastation cackles at her misery.
The electricity had seared her fingertips, punishing her indulgence.
Her palms gasped, finally breaking loose hold on her reality
As the wind ripped it from her burning hands.
With fresh wounds still stinging,
The last wisps of humidity proudly saunter away,
Leaving her with nothing but ashes.
