Cry Me a River
Cry me a river, build me a bridge,
And sail a boat under the bridge,
Drifting atop the currents of a dream
To wherever the wind and water might take you,
For you are in the grasp of the world
And the breezes dictate your tomorrow;
You are a child of the clouds and sky
And you are bound to the fate
Of wherever the river chooses to lead you,
To whatever ocean, to whatever great beyond
That is marked only by a shining horizon
And the feeling within you that calls you onward.
Then, facing an unknown forever,
The wild will take you upon its wings
And hold you in the arms of the wind,
The water rocking you gently to sleep
And whispering new dreams to you,
And when you wake you will be ready
To carry on and follow the call of the sea.
So cry me an ocean, build me an eternity,
And sail into it, sweet child of the clouds and sky.
