Who Needs Air?
With one breath
I dive
Deeper
Deeper
Deeper
With powerful kicks
I propel myself down
Still deeper I go
As my lungs start to burn
And my thighs begin to scream
I reach the seafloor
There I stop
Resting on the bottom
I slowly turn my head
My neck fighting the weight of the water
I look at the fish
A fairy basslet here
A school of blue tang there
I look at the coral
Each piece unique and vibrant
I look at an algae bloom
Gently swaying back and forth
In the oceans tidal breeze
The many colors and shapes
That make up
This underwater kingdom
For just one short moment
I forget I need air
