Warrior Coming Home
I see him limping, drenched in blood,
his sword dragging behind.
Not able to stand, he falls in the mud,
but doesn't lose his mind.
For in his hand is a seed,
and he grips it very tight.
Even as he bleeds,
he plants it in the night.
I realize that seed is his happiness;
his reason to hang on to life.
Yes through his pain and stress,
he still made it out alive.
And as he endures the pain,
and the grueling process of recovery,
that seed that kept him sane
grew into a mighty tree.

No matter what you endure, it's the memory of happiness, and the hope you will make it out of your struggle alive that keeps you going.
