I Wonder
I wonder what happens at night.
Do the birds whisper secrets into the rough bark of the willow?
Does the wind rock the squirrels to sleep?
Do the stars listen carefully, quietly, as to not wake the sun?
Does the moon grumble deep as he snores?
Do the ancient oak trees creak together in a symphony of woodwinds?
Does the earth sigh in relief to be free of stomping feet?
I wonder, as I lay in the dark, what happens at night.
