The brute
Like a mountain, stands the brute
So tall
Though all he sees is the bottom of the boot
Prim or slang?
Yin or yang?
Dumb ‘cause he dropped out?
Or abandoned, was he locked out?
Medicates to stand still
Those damn pills
Yet the he who needs them
Can never be truly him
Poor giant, he knows only what he is not
And will not, or cannot, dreams but not
a-lot, and keeps monotone like a robot.
But passion wells up
Thus with his shoulders held up
He rebels! Enough!
With love he is touched!
An overflowing cup,
Of Black Beauty
His long curly hair?
Uncut.
His rough weathered skin?
Walnut.
The unenlightened try selling him
The cure for all his melanin
But ever steadfast is this ebony sheppard
For color is what makes opening your eyes worth the effort .
