Rules
Boys don’t cry
Boys don’t wear dresses
Girls aren’t tough
Girls can’t fight
Boys can’t spend the night with girls
Girls can’t hang out with guys
If boys do, they’re trying to get laid
If girls do, they’re desperate
Why do we have these rules?
Why, why, why, why?
All these rules do,
Is separate us.
Society tells us,
“Be yourself”
“Be whatever you want to be”
But if a boy puts on a dress…
He’s gay.
If a girl wants to feel beautiful
And wears sexy clothing…
“She’s asking for it”.
Why?
Why, why, why, why?
Why these rules,
These expectations?
‘Cause ya know what?
I’ll wear a dress if I goddamn want to.
Everyone deserves to feel beautiful
So why not?
