Left, Right
Left, right
Head swaying
As you stumble through the door
Shedding off your burden
Standing 20lbs lighter
But still with the weight of the world
On shoulders, one slumped
At a careless angle
Years of bending over desks
Hunched forward to better squint
At the black and white
Choices, right or wrong
Pain or apathy
Taking breaks, stretching out
The physical crack resonating
As the vertebrae in my neck pop back
And I can
No longer stand straight
Pondering over tests
Of my judgment, of seeming worth
Has taken its toll
Swaying left to right
From A to F
From straight to scoliosis
From dizziness to sleepiness
As I collapse out of self-preservation
My final decision has been made
And I can finally
rest in peace.
