how do you control
every aspect of my life
so simply?

your voice shifts the air
and reduces my gravity
so I float and melt into thin air.

sickeningly sweet words kiss
my open ears gently and perfectly,
making my racing heart giggle quietly.

you hold me so highly,
atop your mind’s golden pedestal,
that I feel like I rightfully belong there.

I imagine your touch
as a beached whale imagines the pacific,
and I might die the same death without you.

and even if your lips
never meet my own,
the feeling of your arms, of home,

will always prompt my smiles.
