I Am From
I am from gimps,
from Abita root beer and Baby Bell cheese.
I am from the little pinkish house on Stafford.
(welcoming, perfect,
it felt like home.)
I am from the Magnolia Tree,
the unsprouted flower
peeling them and throwing the petals in the air.
We are from flocked Christmas trees
from Zingers and Diet Coke.
We are from, “Sweet dreams, Rosie dreams!”
(comforting, enlightening,
it made us feel safe)
We are from dinner at Meme’s house for special events
way too much food
but Uncle Michael is always there to finish off the leftovers.
We are from watching Big Brother as a family,
all together on the couch,
Enjoying all the little moments together.
