4 You
you are mine,
and I am yours.
my greatest fear is losing you.
but...
if my free wings,
that God so mercifully granted my spine,
could never again take flight,
my last whisper,
full of feathers and cold air,
would bring me to you.
if their bones became brittle
or the wind grew tired
of holding me above the treetops,
my legs would walk the distance,
and every ounce of energy
would be used to reach your doorstep.
if the roads soften and melt
and can no longer wind or lead,
I will scrape my nails in the dirt to make my own path to you.
you are mine,
and I am yours.
you call me an angel, sent from heaven.
so if I’m your saving grace,
and you think I’m holy,
then let me spread my wings
and love you until I’m called home.
