My Worst Fears
I remember being afraid of the dark
I would turn on each light from the living room to my bedroom
Filling the next section of the house with a somewhat dim yellow light
Only to silently circle around and turn them off in the same order
Always keeping my surroundings visible
As if a monster would think it’s rude to get me with the lights on
Because I feared what I could not see coming
The dark doesn’t scare me anymore
What I don’t see coming can’t be stopped
Why worry?
Now I fear the things I can see
Death
Failure
Being by myself
All slowly approaching
And I’m the only one standing against them
Great
