My Smiles Secret
Some members in my family present the attractive trait of dimples. Two craters in my cheeks aside the curved crevice of my pouty plump lips. Always stealing the show with smiles, and no curtain to hide behind without peeking through a frown. A contagious cycle of laughter and smiles fill every room. During holidays I bring my big bowl of dimples at family gatherings, serving size, infinite.
My father, 1 left dimple, myself, two big dimples. A trait no other grandparent possesses, but a mystery that lies deep within the dimples, my dad. My dad, unknowing of his birth father, and a secrete discovery in grandma’s basement. A man and his roaring harley, a smile with 1 right dimple, and a dog howling as the engine ignites. A humbling warmth is the new feel of the cold conserved celler. My father, 1 left dimple, his dad, 1 right dimple complete the hole missing in a family and a dimple to complete my dad’s smile, and a daughter complimented by dad’s charming genes.
