Against the Clock
Time does not stop
running. Its hands flick
in rapid circles,
the clock’s second
hand clicks past
the four,
past the
five, past
the seven,
past the twelve.
Minutes pass, days
pass, weeks pass,
years pass, again
and again.
But time for you is going to end.
Click, clock, click, clock,
Time moves its legs, sprinting
in a race against you. Your life is like
a snowman in the
sun, taking it away, bit
by bit. Plip, plop,
melted snow falls
to the ground.
tick, tock, tick, tock.
tick, tock.
tick.
