Senseless
I ask myself every day
That if I became deaf
Or blind
Would I still want
To wake up
To the silence of my alarm clock
And the dark glare of the morning sun
And get annoyed when the traffic light
Remained red for seconds
Minutes
hours
And to cringe at the empty sound
Of businessmen honking their way
To the office
Would I want to admire
The greens of trees
That I was told existed
But had no proof
What if the trees didn’t exist
And the sun didn’t rise
And what if honking
Sounded like an angel
Playing a gold encrusted harp
What if a shout was more
Alluring
Than the exquisite hum of
Ten thousand
Monarch butterflies
And red was really yellow
Was really pink
Was really blue
Was really really dark
