To You
To the girl who thinks she is nothing:
Dear girl who thinks endlessly and long,
what you’re looking for is equanimity, and I’m not wrong.
Dear girl who has more cuts and ridges than a piece of paper,
I know even if you stop, they’ll still be there later.
Dear girl who hates her smile,
it’s beautiful and contagious, so keep it a while.
Dear girl who wishes desperately to be smart,
keep doing what you do, it’s your personal art.
Dear girl who hears people car you annoying,
they don’t matter, they’re just jealous and boring.
Dear girl who thinks there’s no one to talk to,
I know it’s hard to speak when others have no clue.
Dear girl who can’t take it and is hysterically crying,
being helped is better than thinking about dying.
Dear girl who thinks she is always misunderstood,
you can actually understand more than they could.
Dear girl who thinks she can’t do it,
you can, you just need your mind to commit.
Dear girl who has no friends,
take the broken string, and tie the two ends.
Dear girl whose fear takes over,
You’re strong enough to let it pass over.
Dear girl who thinks she has nothing to offer,
even the simplest minds can become an author.
Dear girl who thinks she doesn’t belong,
You’re the one everybody’s been looking for all along.
