My Missing Puzzle Piece
As God made my puzzle-heart,
He looked at your piece, and set it apart.
He said, “Now this one you must find after your birth.”
And he flung your puzzle piece down to earth.
Before I left that Golden City,
He exclaimed, “You’re still unready!”
He gave me a piece of someone’s puzzle
And said, “This will save you so much trouble.”
I had no idea what it meant,
But God looked at me and said,
“This belongs to a close friend of yours,
One of which you’ll highly adore.
She has part of you, you part of her.
Your heart complete when you’re friends, I’m sure.”
With that, I exited the Pearly Gates,
Prepared for the world that awaits.
As I grew up without “you and me”,
My puzzle-heart was not complete.
I tried to fill the gaping void,
But nothing else brought me joy.
With a hole in my heart, eight years passed.
It was a miracle that long I did last.
I remember clearly our first meeting.
We raised our small hands in pleasant greeting.
We said our names, charming and sweet,
And to me, yours was quite elite.
As I heard your name, my heart swelled.
“Annelisa,” you said, “and nothing else.”
However, that name was too hard, you see.
“The Monalisa” much more suited me.
So in my mind, that was who you were,
And just as beautiful as her.
Our friendship grew stronger over the years,
Sharing laughs and sometimes tears.
The times spent with you were the best I had.
You made me smile whenever I was sad.
Together, we started seventh grade
And any troubles I would face,
You would be ready to help me through them
I thought you an angel who fell from heaven.
In my mind I knew you were the friend
That part of my heart God did lend.
So now to you I offer my puzzle piece.
Can you make me complete?
