Not Like the Others
As the petals fall on a normal spring day,
There’s a girl who thinks that she should hide away.
She has a secret that she must hide
Otherwise, she would be caught in a lie.
She tried to blend in with the crowd, trying not to speak so loud.
If she does, someone might hear her
She wondered if there was a way that she could run and hide away with the girl of her dreams.
She’s trying to break free from all the hatred and the rejection she might receive.
Somehow she’s stuck in a twisted world where she cannot be who she wants to be.
That girl is sadly me.
I wonder if there’ll be a time for me,
A time for me to spread my wings and be free,
Without the monsters trying to clip my wings
I hope that I don’t get caught in a lie.
I’m trying to blend in with the crows, trying not to speak so loud.
If I do, someone might hear me.
I wonder if there is a way that I could run and hide away with the girl of my dreams.
I’m trying to break free from all the hatred and the rejection I might receive.
Somehow I’m stuck in a twisted world where I cannot be who I want to be.
It’s what I set for me.
Run, the voices say,
Run and hide away
No one will love you, no one will look at you the same way
No one will care, life’s just unfair
So just break away
And so I broke free and helped others to be who they want to be
And so I broke free from all the hatred and the rejection I will receive.
And I’m still fighting for a world where everyone gets to be who they want to be.
And I’m finally with the girl of my dreams.
