September
Sometimes words just aren’t enough
To say just how I’m feeling
When my whole world’s spinning
And my whole mind is reeling
September, why’d you have to come?
And drive away the summer sun
When I wish reality would go away
And I’d give anything for one more day
And summer’s flame has died to an ember
Leaves are falling, it’s September
Hold me closer, just one more kiss
I hope we can keep dreaming like this
But reality’s just a touch from here
I love the way you dry my tears
September, why’d you have to come?
And drive away the summer sun
When I wish reality would go away
And I’d give anything for one more day
And summer’s flame has died to an ember
Leaves are falling, it’s September
And when I don’t know what to feel
I hope that you and me is real
Because I’ll never forget the day
We sat outside one afternoon
A sweet long kiss I’ll always remember
Fell in love this September
I suppose September had to come
So we accept that summer’s done
And reality is here to stay
But I can’t love you through the days
So all I have to leave you with is
A sweet long kiss you’ll always remember
With leaves falling around us, it was September
