"We few, we happy few/we band of brothers/For he to-day that sheds his blood with me/Shall be my brother"
-Shakespeare, "Henry V"

(VERSE 1)
I did you so many ugly wrongs
I turned and like that I was gone
All without even one second thought
But you were the one who said you’re sorry
I turned away from your open arms
Didn’t care if I did you any harm
I said “no thank you” and walked along
But you were still ready to fight for me

(CHORUS)
Did I ever tell you thank you
For all you sacrificed for me?
Did I ever lean on the shoulder
That you always had there for me?
And did I ever let you know
That without you I’d rather die?
Did you ever hear me tell you
That you are a hero of mine?

(VERSE 2)
You were there to wipe away my tears
Said the things I needed to hear
When you were holding me I felt no fear
But I told you I was fine on my own
You never talked bad behind my back
Didn’t humiliate me where I lacked
You came to me when I was off track
But I wanted to be left alone

(CHORUS)

(CHORUS 2)
Did I ever salute you when
You were there to save the day?
Did I ever realize you were there
When my blue skies had turned to gray?
Did I ever tell you I would
Pass on this love that’s so divine?
Did you ever hear me tell you
That you are a hero of mine?

(CHORUS)

"Dear God," she prayed, "let me be something every minute of every hour of my life. Let me be gay; let me be sad. Let me be cold; let me be warm. Let me be hungry...have too much to eat. Let me be ragged or well dressed. Let me be sincere - be deceitful. Let me be truthful; let me be a liar. Let me be honorable and let me sin. Only let me be something every blessed minute. And when I sleep, let me dream all the time so that not one little piece of living is ever lost." - Betty Smith (A Tree Grows in Brooklyn)

This is so sweet and the lyrics really seem heartfelt! I could definitely imagine this being sung - as in, the words flowed appropriately - and I think it could be a classic. :) Great job!

"All good things are wild and free." - Henry David Thoreau

"It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live." - Albus Dumbledore

These lyrics are so sweet and beautiful. I feel they go along with the saying "You don't know what you have until it's gone." Because you take advantage of someone for so long and you never realize how much they mean to you until you lose that person. Great job! You are a great songwriter.
