It's Gone
The long and winding road has led me here
To a river made of tears
I thought the long and winding road
Was supposed to lead me to your door
But instead, it just led me away from all that I hold dear
I wish I could stop the world and melt with you
Maybe then I wouldn’t feel so blue
Just stop the spinning, crush the axis
So all this will just melt under the blaze
Yes, that’s what I’d like to do
Because it’s gone
It’s gone
And it won’t come back again
It’s gone
I don’t quite know where this place is
The place where the river turns and twists
I’ll cry into it
Maybe it’ll flood
And carry me away from all this
This world is so cold
I remember when we used to be whole
Songs were sung
Happy music played
Now I’m on a mountain of coal and searching for gold
Because it’s gone
It’s gone
And it won’t come back again
It’s gone
A familiar piece of me has died
And oh how I’ve cried
But nobody was there to see it
I was alone by the river of tears
Whose waters have risen high
And I want things back to the way they can never be
I want things back but nobody sees
So I’ll just float away on the river of dreams
As this little meadow blackens and dies
I know you’ll never be back with me
Because it’s gone
It’s gone
And it won’t come back again
It’s gone
