Our Favorite Lie
A story for the audience,
About our hopeless romance.
We try to make ourselves better,
Not a chance when weakness takes over.
I'd like to say I'm at fault,
But I'm not the only one with secrets in the vault.
The spotlight is on you so describe to me,
What it's like to lie so easy?
Playing fake for you is a profession,
I'm stupid enough to buy it, it's such an addiction.
I keep coming back to you because I want more,
Since you last saw me, I've changed this time for sure.
I've found my cure, I've learned to quit,
I think I'll sing louder just a bit...
You loved, I sighed,
You laughed, I cried.
The best thing we ever did was separate.
You cheated, I failed,
You pleaded, I bailed.
And now I'm done with this debate.
I should state along with my goodbye,
Loving each other was our favorite lie.
If I wanted, I could write a book about,
The times that you kicked me out.
You said I could have prevented it,
But I know that I needed it.
Because our life together was just a dream,
In reality it was never seen.
Twisted by confusion rests our words,
The good, the bad, even ones we've never heard.
But I won't let you steal my lines,
And I'm done trying this time.
Because you're not worth the effort I'm giving,
And I'm moving on to living.
You loved, I sighed,
You laughed, I cried.
The best thing we ever did was separate.
You cheated, I failed,
You pleaded, I bailed.
And now I'm done with this debate.
I should state along with my goodbye,
Loving each other was our favorite lie.
Whoa! Whoa!
I knew it would come to this,
Since you laid on me your kiss.
Whoa! Whoa!
Go away I'm kicking you out of my life,
Pulling out the back-stabbing knife.
You loved, I sighed,
You laughed, I cried.
(Oh, Yeah)
The best thing we ever did was separate.
You cheated, I failed,
You pleaded, I bailed.
(Get out of my life)
And now I'm done with this debate.
I should state along with my goodbye,
Loving each other was our favorite lie.
