Drowning
I'm a drowning in progress,
I'm wishing I could breathe
but you're the only one
who can save me.
So reach your hand in,
and pull me out of the water.
I'm a work in progress,
I'm not yet complete.
There's still the question
of who i'll be.
So pick up the pen,
finish my story,
and put me at ease.
Don't give me a second glance.
I don't matter, you see
Just blended into the scenery
I don't matter to anybody.
Maybe you'll open your eyes
for me.
If opened myself to you,
what would you really see?
The happy girl,
the faker?
The one who always smiles?
Or the girl on the edge,
looking over,
wondering whether or not to jump?
Can you see
past my walls?
Can you see through it all?
Maybe you could see it all.
Maybe you could help me
breathe.
Don't give me a second glance.
I don't matter, you see
Just blended into the scenery
I don't matter to anybody.
Maybe you'll open your eyes
for me.
I'm shallow,
a liar.
Don't believe me
when I say I'm fine.
Don't ever believe me.
Just hold me and tell me
"It'll be okay. I promise"
And keep it.
Don't give me a second glance.
I don't matter, you see,
I'm just blended into the scenery
I don't matter to anybody.
Maybe you'll open your eyes
for me.
Tired of broken promises,
I just want to breathe.
Maybe you'll see
past the words
past the looks,
Maybe someone
will finally save me.
