A Selfless Man
Never could he find a reason not to care
He was young and she was troubled
But though he was small in years, his heart beat one thousand times that of God
They say a hero jumps over the edge
To save someone in despair
But he knew it only takes a leap of faith and care
To change a life
So, he held her in his arms
And promised to never let her fall
Held her hand until that final moment
When he watched his life flash before his eyes
And as the tires screamed
So did he
Mr. Selfless never had the chance to be
A simple man
Arriving at Heaven's Gates
He gazed into God's eyes and prayed
Not for forgiveness, but for sanctuary
A whole life he lived for others
Never looking back at what he could be
What he could have done for himself
Now he stands full-heartedly
And empty handed
Hoping someone appreciated his pure pure heart
Oh, Mr. Selfless
Now you rest with the Gods
But was that divine place in Heaven
Worth the life of such a great man?
She was young and he was troubled
Held his hand and promised the world
Asking for nothing in return
And as the tires screamed
So did she
Ms. Actuality never had the chance to be
A simple man
As she floated to Heaven she too prayed
That all these long days and selfless actions would not go unnoticed
And, as she knelt before the Golden Gates
She smiled at the face
Awaiting her on the other side
Oh, Mr. Selfless
Now you rest with the Gods
And your empty hands have been filled with her warm embrace
And you no longer question your days
As a selfless man
