What I wouldn't give
Back in 45 new York city came alive
A great war had ended
and somehow we survived
We survived
And what I wouldn't give
To be up there on the rooftops
Drinking beer and and getting high
With my friends and watch the city paint the sky
I would dress up like a sailor
And I would walk those city streets
Maybe find a pretty nurse girl
And sweep her off her feet
Well I'm not outta love songs baby
I have just begun
I haven't found the words yet but you can sing along
When I'm done
Back in 57 I heard the sound of a guitar
Yea it shook the world in such a way
It made us who we are
Who we are
And what I wouldn't give
To have found an old guitar
I woulda learned to play the blues
And then I could sing my heart out to
Well I'm not outta love songs babey
I have just begun
I havnt found the words yet but you can sing along
When I'm done
And in 1969 I heard
That 3 days there was a change
People fell in love and forgot
how to hate
And what I wouldn't give
to have slipped some LSD
And lose myself inside a sea
Of Hendrix melody
Still the missiles were pointed at us
And our brothers were dying in brush
We never wanted war we wanted freedom
No one will take that from us
Well I'm not outta love songs babey
I have just begun
I havnt found the words yet but you can sing along
When I'm done
And when the bombs drop
It'll happen soon some day
I'll pack up this old six string
And I will run away, far away
I am not a soldier
I can barley lift a gun
But I will sing these songs of freedom
These songs will never be undone
And the world is Getting smaller
so they say
But you keep drifting
further away
I'd never kill for anyone
But I might just die for you
if you asked me to
Well I'm not outta love songs babey
I have just begun
I havnt found the words yet but you can sing along
When I'm done
