Dancing to a Heartbreak
Rain’s falling down on my stereo,
My musics shorting out.
I find myself dancing along,
Like a ballerina going round n’ round.
I might have torn your heart yesterday,
But you’re the one who crashed me down.
In the end I’m twirling on my toes,
As if nothing ever went wrong.
My brain and heart had a meeting,
Telling me to move along.
Or maybe you were a waste of time.
I’m going into today strong.
I don’t need music to dance,
My moves last all night long.
I don’t need you to tell me I’m right,
The days to come will be better than before.
I remember when you told me I couldn’t do a thing,
You said my dancing was too plain.
What about now with my leaps and twirls?
I’m busting out my moves in the rain!
Musics trailing in my ears,
Not from the stereo.
I have a song playing in my head,
It’s the one you trashed before I broke.
You are in the past.
Now I’m happy as anyone can be.
After this song it’ll be so long,
Of our blessed cursed history.
I don’t need music to dance,
My moves last all night long.
I don’t need you to tell me I’m right,
The days to come will be better than before.
