treacherous world
I gaze into the water, searching for my soul.
I wish I could see what isn’t there; something to behold.
The statue in sight fills me with fright, for I perceive no emotion at all.
These eyes hold no tears, my heart rebukes love.
Reflecting back only a cold, empty image,
The irony of the sun’s light at my back.
Sarcasm, mother earth has sprinkled heavy upon tonight.
The bitter sweet air, warm and dry;
Memories that once made me cry.
What is emotion? I’ve lost my soul;
No more heart, just a hole.
Even my once-love mocks my empty frame,
His eyes alike the water, his hair mimics warm sunlight.
Who would see, one even colder than I?
I am only what the world has made me; a treachery in itself.
