This Was Him.
He put her truck in park and walked up to the door
She didn't skip the steps the way she always did before
He came outside before she had a chance to knock and looked at her
Tears were in her eyes,
He'd never seen her cry.
She turned away, second guessing stopping over
Trying to hide the way she felt but he pulled her closer
"Girl I'm sorry", was all he really knew to say to her
She looked up at his eyes and suddenly she realized
This was him,
The boy she used to write to in her songs
When she was seventeen
She used to think he was a dream
But this was him,
The guy who'd really been there all along
With her through everything
She used to fight this feeling
But This Was Him.
