The Break-Up
You and me,
We aren’t the same,
I know they say opposites attract.
That when thunder and lighting come together they are unstoppable.
But unstoppable is not how I feel.
I feel sad and weak and disappointed.
Not only in you, but in me for feeling this way.
I remember the time when butterflies filled my stomach and
Everything I did was carefully executed with precision and grace.
I was like a ballerina
Who ate a couple of caterpillars
That grew up just like I did.
But it’s not the same, not anymore
And now all I can do is take a step and tell you how I feel,
And hope that when I look into your eyes, you won’t break me down.
Hope that I can do it.
Hope that you won’t be as broken as I was when she did the same to me.
