Fade Away
Pictures, hung around my room,
This old jacket still smells of your perfume.
What happened on that day?
One minute we were fine, then the next we weren't okay.
I don't wanna root back through the pain,
I'm only interested in trying to explain.
This whole situation has me knocked off balance,
I listen for your voice, but I only receive silence.
I'm like a ghost; I used to exist,
Now I'm just another check on your list.
You appear like a star in the night sky,
Then disappear like a cloud without even saying goodbye.
Credit me with partial blame,
But it takes two to play this game.
I shouldn't be the one to take all the fault,
Though I know that's something we will never consult.
A memory is all I will ever be,
But knowing you, you'll forget about me.
Supposedly, I was a face you would think about every day,
We sure aren't the same, 'cause you're already beginning to fade away.
I kept you on Facebook so you could see,
Every status I post isn't just about me.
Feeling pain after a break-up is a normal sign,
I'm taking it hard, I'm slowly crossing the insane line.
I keep up with every tweet that you post,
Hoping one would be about me and that to you I'm not a ghost.
I text you here and there trying not to cause a scene,
Yet a fight stirs up and my words become unclean.
If this is what you want, it's what you will get,
Let me be the face you will soon forget.
Every time I look at you,
My heart breaks in two.
The pain is present if you stay,
Therefore in my heart you must go away.
Told you I wouldn't stick around,
Your personality is what brought us down.
Now you see we will never be,
Anything other than a long, lost memory...
