Why Not Me
I can't trust you,
When you said you only wanted me.
Always telling a lie, never speaking the truth,
I find it hard to believe.
It's just not the same,
His lips feel your kiss.
And I can't even explain,
How I feel about all of this.
'Cause it's stuck in my memory,
Of when it used to be me.
You're taking him everywhere we used to go,
Look at him act, he's putting on a show.
And do you even remember,
All the times you swore forever?
I haven't forgotten, no, not yet,
But it seems like you'll be the first to forget.
And now that you're with somebody else,
I keep asking myself:
Why not me?
You call me on the phone,
Saying you need a friend.
He left you all alone,
Well, I'm sorry, I can't pretend.
You can't call me up whenever,
That's not how it works.
Girl, you may think you're clever,
But just know it hurts.
'Cause it's stuck in my memory,
Of when it used to be me.
You're taking him everywhere we used to go,
Look at him act, he's putting on a show.
And do you even remember,
All the times you swore forever?
I haven't forgotten, no, not yet,
But it seems like you'll be the first to forget.
And now that you're with somebody else,
I keep asking myself:
Why not me?
Yo, listen girl, you blew your last chance,
You found a new guy with a new romance.
And I bet he's in the bedroom taking off your pants,
While you stare at him and throw a naughty glance.
And does he know he's not your only one?
That you're only in this just for the fun?
You should probably stop telling him he's your shining sun,
We both know after awhile you'll be done.
And I keep thinking why I couldn't see,
All that we were was just make-believe.
But I continue to contemplate you're what I need,
And I ask myself the same question: Why not me?
'Cause it's stuck in my memory,
Of when it used to be me.
You're taking him everywhere we used to go,
Look at him act, he's putting on a show.
And do you even remember,
All the times you swore forever?
I haven't forgotten, no, not yet,
But it seems like you'll be the first to forget.
And now that you're with somebody else,
I keep asking myself:
Why not me?
